Fall Has Officially Arrived!

It has been unseasonably sunny over the past few weeks so we have taken full advantage and spent a lot of time outdoors. Abi, Colby and I headed to South 47 Farm to pick some beans at the Farm Tots program. Josh, Abi and I also ventured out to the pumpkin patch in search of the perfect pumpkin!

You will notice a recurring theme with Abi's face throughout this post...this is her new "smile"!

We're Having A...

BOY! We had our ultrasound last week and found out that we are having a little boy. Josh and I are very excited although a bit surprised. Going in, I knew that there was the possibility of having a boy but both Josh and I were certain that we were having a girl. During my pregnancy, I have had 3 or 4 dreams that I was having a boy (including one very vivid dream the night before our ultrasound) - I guess my subconscious was trying to tell me something! It was really fun to see our little one moving around during the ultrasound and overall, everything looked good. We are still on track for a March 9th due date.

Abi came to the ultrasound as well and had fun hearing and seeing the baby. I think she believes that she has the ability to decide whether she is having a baby brother or baby sister. When I tell her that she is going to have a baby brother, she says, "no, sister". And when I asked her what we should name her baby brother, she responds, "sister".

Last Few Days of Sunshine...

As I watched the weather report today and saw a forecast of rain and cold temperatures, I realized that summer is officially over and fall is quickly approaching. Despite our weather, we have been very busy enjoying time with our families and friends and preparing for Halloween.

A few weekends ago, we headed over to Grandma's house for her boat christening. It was a really beautiful weekend with great weather. We headed over to Bremerton on Saturday with the intention of spending the day on the boat and spending the night at Grandma's house. Unfortunately, Abi was feeling a bit under the weather and when we put her to bed at 9 p.m., she woke up crying EVERY hour. Finally, at 1 a.m. after not getting much sleep, Josh and I decided it was time to head home. Needless to say, it was a very late night and we all fell asleep around 3 a.m. Well, I guess that's life with kids. Here are some pictures from some of the better moments...

During the first weekend of October, Josh was out of town for a Bachelor Party in Portland. Abi and I had a girl's weekend which included a trip to Woodland Park Zoo with Jami, Regen and Claire. We all had a great time despite the windy and wet weather. Abi's cutest moment of the day occurred when she was looking at the gorillas. She stared at the gorilla sitting by the window for a long time then turned to me and said, "look Mommy, he's nudie".

Abi continues her LOVE of music. We listen to music all day long and thanks to her Dad, she is constantly exposed to all different types of music. As soon as we get in the car, Abi says "music please". We are hoping her love of music and dance continues and trying to encourage it by enrolling her in music classes which she really enjoys. We are just hopeful she has not inherited her Mom and Dad's singing or dancing genes! Here is a picture of her watching and listening to Elvis on youtube.com:

Abi's Dancing Abilities...Abi is dancing to one of her favorite songs - not necessarily the best song for a toddler but at least it is the edited version!

Over this last weekend, the weather seemed to get a bit colder so we headed indoors for some fun. We met Colby and Grandma at Bell Square for the grand opening of the new play area.

We also celebrated Grandma's 60th birthday at Buca di Beppos. Abi and Colby had a great time, entertaining each other and nearby diners by making goofy faces at each other during the entire meal!

We have also been busy getting ready for Halloween. Abi is very scared of Halloween this year - not everything, just those scary skeletons, skulls and anything that unexpectedly moves or talks! We had an encounter with a talking skeleton at Target last weekend which ended in lots of tears and talk of "scary halloween stuff". I tried to get Abi's help in decorating the house this year and she spent the first ten minutes hiding in the bathroom! Trick-or-treating might be quite interesting this year. Abi is going to be a witch this year although every time we have tried on her costume, she tells me what a beautiful princess she is. Here are some pictures of her helping us decorate the outside of the house for Halloween:

Well, she tried to help but the ants she discovered on the ground were way more interesting...
