Helen Keller

This year every second grader was required to participate in the Wax Museum day at school.  This was an assignment which took place over the past month and required the kids to not only research an influential person of their choice, but also write and memorize a speech.  Abi's speech was over a minute long and today she had to recite it for the students (including the 5th graders!), teachers, parents and even the Principal. The kids all sat in chairs with a little black sticker on their hand, which was supposed to represent a button. When someone "pressed their button", the kids stood up and recite their speech.  All in all, I think Abi recited hers about 20 times in a span of two hours.

Way to go Abi!

Hair Styles

Once Nattie is finished with her meal, she takes any leftovers and styles her hair.
We've been taking lots of baths lately.

Easter 2014

Our Easter celebration started with decorating eggs and ended with a fun backyard Easter Egg Hunt.  We also headed to Greenlake for a walk and a yummy Easter Brunch with the Drevniaks.

Abi picked out the egg decorating kit this year and picked Tie Dye (surprise, surprise)!

The kids ran downstairs on Easter morning to find their hidden baskets and goodies...

Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures of us at brunch but did get the camera out at Greenlake. It was beautiful with all the trees in bloom.

Once we got home, we had our traditional Easter Egg Hunt in the yard.

"Hey, how do I get this one?"

The World According to Brady 4

A few of Brady's gems over the past months:

* As I was tucking Brady into bed, he tells me, "It was a swell day for an adventure."

* During a recent visit to the zoo, Brady turns to Josh and I and says, "A gorilla is really hulk smash, right?" (He refers to the Incredible Hulk as "hulk smash")

* Brady has a Lego Light Repair Truck. He calls it a cherry picker but sometimes gets mixed up and  refers to it as a Chicker Perry. It makes me laugh every time!

* Brady LOVES to play make-believe and everyone in the family is usually given a role, whether they want to participate or not.  On some days, Brady and I are married and he calls me "Hon".

* My parents have two cars - a Toyota 4-Runner and a Subaru Impreza.  Brady refers to their cars as the monster truck and race car.

Spring Break 2014

This year we surprised the kids with a trip to Arizona during Spring Break. And by surprise, I mean we didn't tell them until we were literally pulling into the airport parking lot.  It was a lot of work to pack for a family of 5 in secret but so worth the look on their faces when we told them.  The first thing that Abi wanted to know was who was going to watch Sadie if we were leaving - so sweet!

We parked the car, made it through security, ate lunch and got our seats on the plane {phew!}
As we took off, Nattie was all smiles.

Soon after, she fell asleep and Josh and I thought we were in good shape,

But our luck quickly changed when she woke up.  Poor girl was sick and the remainder of the plane ride was not fun! We chalked it up to motion sickness but unfortunately it turns out that she had an ear infection which was confirmed by a visit to Urgent Care a few days into our trip. And so the Doehne Vacation Curse continues...

Despite the infection, Nattie was quite the trooper and we even got a few cute smiles along the way!

On our first day, we had a pool party with the Worsleys who were also vacationing in Arizona.  As you can see, the kids were in heaven!!

Nattie even got in on the action!

The guys and kids doing a group jump.

The kids were tired after a busy day in the pool.
Apparently, Abi was a bit more comfortable than B's pillow :)

We also went to an amusement park that had a few small rides for the kids. As you can see, poor Nattie was not feeling so good.

Thanks to Grandma and Grandpa, Josh and I even got a night out!

We ended our busy week with a visit to In-N-Out (a requirement every time we visit!), a splash park, an Easter Egg Hunt and of course, more restaurants and great food (our favorite vacation activity).

Our best attempt at a family photo {sigh}... maybe one day!

A big thanks for Grandma and Grandpa for putting up with our family. It was a bit trying for everyone with a sick little one but we still had a great time.
