National Anthem

This year Abi's school choir got to the opportunity to audition to sing the National Anthem before one of the Seattle Mariner's baseball games.  They auditioned and were selected to sing. Being a Mariner's fan, I was beyond excited and was one of the first to sign up as a chaperone. Abi was also excited, however true to form, whenever we have a fun event, holiday or vacation, Abi, without fail, will get sick.  And today was no different. She woke up with the flu, and despite her best efforts to feel better, she couldn't go and was absolutely heartbroken.  She has been practicing with her choir for months and all of her friends were going. As her Mom, I was also heartbroken. The poor choir teacher had to console me for a bit when I arrived to chaperone without Abi.

Arriving at Safeco for the sound check.
The kids got out of school early and we took chartered buses with bathrooms on board to Safeco Field.
(I think this might have been a highlight of the trip for some of them - They were very excited and impressed!)

After some pizza for dinner, we waited in the press conference room for the game to begin.

The Mariner Moose even gave us high-fives on the way out!

Here is the official video from the Mariner's website.

It was so fun to be on the field for this once-in-a-lifetime experience -
I just wish Abi could have experienced it with me.
